Makhana Kheer

Nutrition :
Kids will like this. High in calcium, protein and energy. Good substitute to regular rice kheer. Suitable for Navratri fasting

Ingredients :
Milk, Makhana, Ghee, Sugar, Cashews, Cardamom / Saffron (optional)

Instructions :
  1. Heat a pan over medium flame, add 2 tsp ghee 
  2. Add 2 katori makhana and saute for a few minutes till they turn crispy
  3. Let it cool
  4. In a separate pan add some cashews and roast for a few seconds until golden brown.
  5. Into a blender, coarsely grind the makhana, cashews with some cardamon (elaichi seeds) 
  6. In a saucepan add 2 katori of milk and heat over medium flame till the milk comes to a slight boil
  7. Add the makhana and cashew mix along with sugar (as per taste)
  8. Let it cook for 5 minutes, stirring continuously till kheer thickens
  9. Add some saffron strands
Makes 2-3 katori kheer
