Nutrition :
Great weaning food (babies moving to solids) rich in balanced protein, fibre, B vitamins, Iron, Magnesium & Zinc. Equally healthy for older children & adults. Great to eat in winter. Popular recipe of Western India, especially Rajasthan

Ingredients :
Bajra, Moong dal, Cashews/ Peanut (optional), Turmeric powder, Salt, Cumin seeds, Mustard seeds, Curry leaves, Ginger, Coriander leaves

Instructions :
  • Wash 1 katori of bajra seeds thoroughly & grind it to a coarse powder
  • Soak this bajra powder in sufficient amount of water for 10 minutes
  • Wash and clean 1 katori of moong dal and pressure cook in sufficient water for 5 minutes
  • Add the soaked bajra to the cooked dal and let it boil on low flame for 5-6 minutes
  • In a separate pan, heat 1 tsp oil and add curry leaves, chopped ginger, turmeric, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and cashews as per taste, till it crackles
  • Add this tadka to the boiling bajra and dal mixture and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes
  • Remove in a clean bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot
