Nutrition :
Appam is a high energy meal, rich in carbohydrates from rice & fibre from coconut. It is probiotic and good for the digestive system

Ingredients :
Rice, fresh coconut, salt, sugar

Instructions :
  1. Soak 1 katori rice for 4 hours 
  2. Grind this rice along with 2 tsp of grated coconut
  3. Heat 1 katori of water and add 2 tsp of rice batter made in step 2 to the heated water, along with salt as per the taste and a pinch of sugar. Add this to the remaining batter
  4. Let this mixture ferment for 5 hrs/overnight
  5. Heat an appam kadai on the stove and pour a ladle full of batter and rotate the kadai
  6. Close the lid and let it cook for 3 mins on medium flame
  7. Remove the appam from the stove and serve along with vegetable sabji.
Makes 7-8 Appam's
